Sarah Speers

Sarah Speers is a Research Assistant at the Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity at Yale University. She graduated summa cum laude from Syracuse University with a BA in both Psychology and Advertising and a minor in Spanish. While there, Sarah was a research assistant for two psychology labs where she investigated how brands function as stereotypes and the effects that social and personality factors have on cognitive functioning. She completed her clinical psychology internship in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department at University Hospital in Syracuse, and also interned at multiple media and advertising agencies in New York. Sarah is interested in how the media affects the physical health and psychological wellbeing of individuals, especially in relation to obesity, weight bias, eating disorders, and body image. At the Rudd Center she is part of a team studying how food marketing impacts youth.
